Within Northamptonshire, the development of the Children & Young People's Partnership brings with it opportunities and challenges to improve strategic planning and service delivery. The Partnership Board comprises representatives of statutory agencies and the voluntary sector. As joint strategic planning continues to develop, it should be able to draw upon an inter-agency analysis of need, itself based upon the information available to, and perspectives of, partners. Northamptonshire Black and Minority Ethnic Housing Needs Survey
Kettering Borough Council commissioned Opinion Research Services to carry out a survey of Black and Minority Ethnic housing and related support needs on behalf of all seven district and borough councils and the Supporting People team in Northamptonshire. This research was commissioned after these organisations identified a need to develop their knowledge of black and minority ethnic groups in Northamptonshire. Specifically, there was a desire to understand the diverse housing needs and aspirations of Black and Minority Ethnic communities in the county, and the appropriateness of current service delivery and provision for these groups. The project was funded by contributions from each of the local authority partners and over twenty Registered Social Landlords with housing stock in the county. The results of this research will inform a range of strategy documents from which resource allocations and policy decisions will be made, including local housing strategies in each of the seven district and borough authorities, the Housing Strategy for the Southern Sub-Region of the East Midlands, and the Regional Housing Strategy for the East Midlands.
