Where does the information on the site come from?

The benefit of the Observatory is that the information is gathered together from a variety of places to save you time and energy searching for it. Many of the datasets used are published nationally by government organisations such as the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA). Other sets of information and publications are generated by the Observatory partners and other local agencies.

Can I publish information from this site in a written document?

Yes as long as you quote the Northamptonshire Observatory and the source of the data that is found in the 'About this..' information, which is with every publication and dataset.

Can I publish information from this site on my website?

We would prefer you to link to the Northamptonshire Observatory website, but if you do, to only do it in a limited way. You must quote the Northamptonshire Observatory and the original source of the data that is found with the information provided with each dataset or publication.

How should I quote the Northamptonshire Observatory as a data source?

Write "Source: [then quote the source of the data provided in the dataset information]. Downloaded from The Northamptonshire Observatory http://www.northamptonshireobservatory.org.uk [then give the date you downloaded the information e.g. 25/12/2003]"

How do I find out if new data is available?

If you browse datasets and publications recently added data is highlighted, but to make sure that you don’t miss anything you can become a registered user of the Northamptonshire Observatory and chose to receive email alerts about new data in the subject areas you are interested in. Register Here

How do I know the data is accurate?

The data comes from reputable data sources, most of which have a long track record of providing accurate information. The Observatory Team makes every effort to ensure that the data we publish is accurate. However, please note that under the Terms & Conditions of the site we do limit our liability should any mistakes have been made.
